Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) has reported a record-breaking revenue of NT$1.27 trillion (US$39.5 billion) for the second quarter, a notable achievement fueled by the increasing global demand for artificial intelligence (AI) chips. This impressive figure marks a 36% increase compared to the same period last year and reflects a nearly 12% growth from the previous quarter. As the world’s largest contract chipmaker, TSMC experienced a particularly robust performance in June, with monthly revenue soaring by 67.9% year-on-year to reach an all-time high of NT$442.68 billion.

During the first half of 2026, TSMC’s total revenue climbed to NT$2.40 trillion, representing a 35.6% rise from the corresponding period in the previous year. The company anticipates its annual revenue to grow by over 30% in US dollar terms, largely driven by the surging demand for AI technologies. As TSMC prepares for its upcoming earnings briefing, investors are keenly awaiting updates regarding its capital expenditure plans, the expansion of its cutting-edge 2-nanometer chip manufacturing capabilities, and its investments in overseas operations, notably in the United States.

Industry experts forecast that TSMC will continue to bolster its lead over competitors by leveraging its advanced chip production and packaging technologies. This strategic edge is expected to enable the company to secure substantial orders from major global technology firms. TSMC’s focus on innovation and expansion underscores its commitment to maintaining its dominant position in the semiconductor industry.

The company’s success highlights the growing influence of AI technologies across various sectors, driving demand for high-performance chips. TSMC’s ability to capitalize on this trend is evident in its financial performance, which not only showcases its operational strength but also positions it well for future growth. As the industry evolves, TSMC’s strategic initiatives are likely to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of semiconductor manufacturing.
