In a significant development for air travel between China and Taiwan, Loong Air has inaugurated its first direct service linking Chengdu Tianfu International Airport and Taichung International Airport. The airline has scheduled this new cross-strait route to operate twice weekly, offering flights on Tuesdays and Saturdays. This addition is anticipated to enhance travel connectivity, making it easier for passengers to move between southwestern China and central Taiwan.
The launch of this direct flight represents Loong Air’s debut in cross-strait services, marking a milestone for the carrier as it expands its offerings beyond domestic routes. Taichung International Airport, which serves as a crucial hub for travel in central Taiwan, continues to grow its list of destinations with the addition of the Chengdu route. Currently, the airport boasts 31 routes, encompassing 20 regular services alongside 11 charter flights. With the introduction of the Chengdu route, Taichung International Airport now connects with three scheduled cross-strait destinations.
