Taiwan has put a stop to processing visas for citizens of Morocco, following a decision by the North African country to suspend visa confirmation letter applications for Taiwanese travelers across the globe. This action, according to Morocco, aligns with the principle of reciprocity in diplomatic relations.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Taiwan reported that Moroccan diplomatic offices have been instructed not to process the confirmation letters necessary for Taiwanese nationals to secure visas upon arrival in Morocco. However, Taiwanese travelers who already possess valid confirmation letters issued before this new directive will still be able to gain entry into Morocco as long as their documents remain valid.
The halt in visa processing by Morocco has been described by Taiwan as a disruption to travel as well as people-to-people exchanges between the two regions. In response, Taiwan has urged the Moroccan government to resume normal visa processing procedures, emphasizing the importance of maintaining these exchanges.
In light of these developments, Taiwan’s foreign ministry has stated its intention to keep a close watch on Morocco’s visa policies. Depending on how the situation evolves, Taiwan may also adjust its own visa processing measures to ensure a balanced approach in handling international travel regulations.
