Taiwan and Thailand are advancing their collaboration in the realm of smart agriculture, emphasizing the integration of artificial intelligence, low-carbon farming, and cutting-edge agricultural technology. This development follows a visit by a Taiwanese delegation comprising government officials, industry leaders, and academic experts to Bangkok, Chiang Rai, and Chiang Mai, where they engaged in discussions with Thai counterparts and research institutions.
The conversations between the two nations centered on the deployment of smart-farming technologies, the implementation of low-carbon agricultural practices, and the establishment of public-private partnerships aimed at modernizing agricultural production. Additionally, the delegation toured various farms and agricultural organizations that are employing smart-farming techniques, such as organic tea cultivation and environmentally sustainable banana farming.
At Maejo University, discussions delved into agricultural engineering, the adaptation of technology, and the development of skilled professionals necessary for the sector’s growth. These interactions also highlighted the specific needs of Thailand in terms of smart-farming equipment, technologies, and operational support.
In a bid to further this cooperation, Taiwan plans to leverage existing agricultural collaboration programs with Thailand. This includes promoting joint research initiatives, facilitating talent exchanges, conducting field testing, and fostering business partnerships within the domain of smart agriculture.
