In a strategic move to bolster their drone industries and reduce reliance on China, Taiwan and Japan have inked a letter of intent to collaborate on developing a secure supply chain for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). This agreement, forged between Taiwan’s Global UAV Academy (GUAVA) and the Japan Drone Consortium, took place during the International Drone Expo in Tokyo.
The newly formed partnership aims to create resilient supply chains for drones while enhancing joint research and development initiatives. Emphasis will also be placed on improving cybersecurity measures, training skilled personnel, and organizing collaborative industry events. Taiwan brings to the table its expertise in advanced manufacturing and semiconductor technology, a robust information and communications sector, and a network of over 300 companies involved in drone-related activities.
Both nations are setting their sights on strengthening regional cooperation and fostering innovation. The collaboration is expected to enhance the security and resilience of the global drone ecosystem. Through this partnership, Taiwan and Japan plan to engage government entities, industry leaders, and research organizations in more integrated efforts to advance drone technology.
